all creative people want to do the unexpected. - hedy lamarr
after i graduated, i attempted to find a job in my field (education) but had no luck doing so. interview after interview - and nothing happened. after i received my loan repayment schedule, i decided that i needed to do something. if i couldn't teach, i'd at least enjoy doing something else that i love - playing with clothes. set out to find a job, i went to a bunch of stores, filling out applications. the last store i stopped at was madewell (it's at the end of the mall). i walked out of the store with a scheduled interview! i was so excited! well today was my interview and it went REALLY well. in preparation of starting, i have been studying madewell's line, especially their new arrivals. below are my favorites of the moment.
dresses
{silk cami dress in black - $150}
you can never go wrong with a casual LBD. i love how this model paired it with a colored belt, simple bag, relaxed hair, and comfy wedges.
shirts & tops
{perfect chambray ex-boyfriend shirt in harvest wash - $69.50}
i mean come on, it chambray. chambray from madewell! you can't get much better than that! i love how this model paired this with a patterned skirt - so chic! i love pairing mine with white denim or with wide leg black trousers and a bib necklace.
sweaters
{candydot pullover - $88}
i loved how this sweater was styled in the store. it was paired with a gray silk gingham shirt and cutoffs.
it looked so effortless and comfortable!
tees & tanks
{indigo ink ombre tee - $42}
love this top! pair with a worn in jean jacket, black skinnies, and chucks.
skirts
{colortread pleat mini - $98}
pair with a dark chambray shirt, yellow flats, and vintage gold jewelery}
denim
{skinny skinny high riser jeans in black frost wash - $125}
black jeans - they go with everything! i like a higher rise in order to 1) avoid wardrobe malfunctions and 2) hide what i want to hide...
shorts
{denim midi shorts in white - $49.50}
white denim shorts are my go-to piece on hot summer nights! they pair well with vintage tees.
jackets & outwear
{longroad denim vest in sawmill wash - $88}
you might be thinking, "really?! denim vests?!" but hear me out. these vests are perfect for those occasions when you want to wear a strappy/strapless dress but want to be more covered up, but the weather is too hot to wear a jacket. denim vests fix that problem. don't knock denim vests before you try them!
shoes
{the archive boot in english saddle - $298}
everyone loves boots, me especially! they are my go to shoe in the fall and winter. not only do they keep me warm but they dress up ordinary outfits! although these have a hefty price tag, they are well worth the invest. with proper maintence, these puppies will last forever. these will be on of my first purchases for myself in the fall. i'm obsessed. i will probably buy the black when they go on sale in the spring!
bags
{the suede camden bag in saratoga blue - $148}
blue & camel - yes please!
jewelry
{arrowstack necklace - $55}
i think this will be another one of my newest purchases once i get the discount...
accessories
i LOVE scarves. i love this one because it's bright and fresh. it will definitely lighten up any fall outfit.
sometimes, i wish jobs paid in clothes
::sigh::
